Vector Artwork from Line Art to 3D Models for Product Rendering

There are needs for product visualization concepts to assist with shelf layout and end cap designs for retail. Also a need for product packaging designs while in prototype to see them converted into a 3D setup to better visualize the product as it will look during the design phase.

The usage of the vector artwork as the basis including Die Cut lines are helpful to layout a package for rendering the design in 3D. The conversion of the line-artwork is really helpful with labeling and with packaging designs as well as seeing the products in a virtual space to help showcase product lines that will be used in retail stores. Product rendering in this case is not just for final images, which once the artwork is modeled, it becomes easy to render your digital assets, but the use of the CG rendering process allows for the product even in the earliest design stages to be viewed as a finished product.

The artwork is provided in a vector format for max resolution in the conversion. The Die lines are extracted as a .SVG or curves format for import into 3D. Once in 3D the texture is projected on the surface.

Once imported and the material setup is complete to align the graphics. The flat geometry is folded into place. Using 3D for this is a quick process saving prototype prints to test the design and the look. The flexibility of the use of 3D is that if the Die Lines are intact, but the design changes, the texture file is then updated to reflect the graphics changes, but the package or labels only need to be setup once.

Once folded into place, the lighting and materials are finalized and prepared for render.

The options are tailored to needs with the individual renders, or as family or multiple items in the scene.
